ՓՆՏՐԵԼ       #13 (114) / Դեկտեմբեր 2009   Hovik MUSAYELYAN, Bagrat YENGIBARYAN CORPORATIVE RESPONSIBILITY Armenia played a leading role in the USSR in research, development and production of high technologies. The sector , s annual average growth rate today is 25 percent, and in 2008 Armenia saw 27 percent growth by providing a turnover of 111 million USD. This index makes 1.2 percent of GDP, which is close to the index of the top countries of the sphere. ArmTech Congress is an indicator of IT sector , s development level in Armenia. ArmTech Congress , 09, the Global High Tech Industry Conference of the Republic of Armenia, was held in San Jose, Silicon Valley, California on November 5-8, 2009. The Armenian government attaches great importance to the Congress as an opportunity for raising awareness on Armenia as a country with rapidly developing high tech sector in the world. The third ArmTech exceeded the achievements of the previous two by becoming an international, global event. The article presents specialists , views on IT sector. In the opinion of Hovik Musayelyan, the Executive Director of Synopsys Armenia CJSC, the most important and the greatest achievement in this sphere was the change of the government position in the last couple of years. He reflected on the problems and the necessary actions to be taken in the sphere, starting from reforms in education sphere up to changes in the Armenian businessman , s mind-sets, as well as ways and approaches of cooperation. Bagrat Yengibaryan, the Director of Enterprise Incubator Foundation Armenia, addressed the upcoming steps to be taken in the implementation of the IT sector concept, confirmed in 2008. He meanwhile emphasized the crucial points identical in all spheres §numerous, sometimes unnecessary problems created by tax and customs agencies. And we hope that the State Revenue Committee will manifest special attitude toward IT sector based on its peculiarities.
