REAL FARMER IS BOTH THE MASTER AND THE SERVANT OF THE LAND

Today individual peasant household in Armenia has nothing to
do with the notion of farmer. A farmer household is run by ?
hardworking owner, fully provided with material and technical
resources, areas of land, and of course, income. Even today
,
s
big landowners are essentially not farmers. They have nothing
to do with land, do not work on it and run the household via
hired employees. Real farmer should be both the master and
the servant of the land with his/her family. Many objective circumstances
hinder establishment of a farmer. One can achieve
his/her goal if one loves his/her job, and the job provides
enough income. Whereas today, nearly 90 percent of those
who are engaged in cultivation, do it because of lack of alternatives.
Besides, one should have the necessary know-how for
the job. Science, modern technologies and approaches should
be on the basis of the production. Sowing is not enough for
profitable agriculture. And it is important to have money or
access to obtain resources. However, it is also not enough.
Even if one possesses them all he/she may face a challenge of
long-term effective farming, since they may face overproduction
one year and deficit in the other, the hail may ruin everything
in the third year. It turns out that availability of a parcel of
land, resources and know-how are not sufficient. Besides them
all, several other factors should be ensured for the farmer to be
established. The most important thing to do is to reduce the
risks. It is only the state who is able to do it.
